United Youth Aviators Licensed Pilots

I'm Gary  Jarvis II 18, from Bedford Stuyvesant Bklyn, NY.  I started my aviation journey at 12 years old with United Youth Aviators first Aviation Summer Camp. I completed my Private Pilots License at age 18. 

I was introduced to United Youth Aviators in middle school from my mom. She wanted me to join the program and it's been the greatest  decision I've ever made .

Throughout my training I grew to love aviation and all of the opportunities that it can give me. i plan on completing all my ratings and pursuing a career as a commercial pilot. 

I'm Kyan Baker 19, from Bklyn, NY, originally from Charlotte, NC.

I was on the chess club, track team & played basketball growing up in NY.  My mom works  for United Airlines so we traveled a lot . This is when I had the opportunity to speak to pilots and the spark of becoming one  grew. I started my journey at age 14, I was attending Madiba Prep Middle School In Bedford Stuyvesant Bklyn when I was told about United Youth Aviators. The Principal Ms. Malcolm my counselor Ms Jarvis and my teacher Ms. Crowell all encouraged me to join the program. I completed my Private Pilots License at age 19. I will continue to pursue my aviation journey to become a commercial pilot. 

I'm Kamora Freeland a 17 year old, from Staten Island, N.Y. I started my journey at age 15 and completed my private pilots license at age 17. 

I made history by becoming :

• The youngest African American Female licensed pilot in NYC. 
• The first licensed female pilot of United Youth Aviators 
• The youngest licensed pilot of United Youth Aviators  

Growing up as the youngest of four siblings, I found comfort and security in the presence of my older brothers, until they left home for college. In 2022 I received  The Young Airmans Association scholarship after being on the waiting since I was 12yrs old. I took my first flight with United Youth Aviators and discovered a profound connection to the skies . My future plans is to become a Commercial Airline Pilot.

I'm Alfredo Covarrubias 18, from Howard Beach Queens, N.Y.  I started the journey at 15 years of age and completed my private pilot license at age 18. I was referred to United Youth Aviators by a friend of my mother. I am excited for accomplishing this goal and I will continue my education in the aviation industry. Currently I am attending Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology for my Airframe and Power Plant license. 

I'm Philip Martin 19, from Jamaica, Queens N.Y. I started the journey at 17 years of age and completed my private pilot license at age 19. The opportunity came when Brooklyn Steam Center Principal Kayon Pryce sponsored me with United Youth Aviators and I took off with the opportunity. When I was younger I would fly flight simulators on my PC & soon enough ended up flying a real airplane. My future plans as a pilot is to acquire more flight hours, obtain my instrument & multi-engine ratings & enjoy my freedom, then possibly move into a commercial license. 

I'm Jerome O'bryant Jr. 19, from Rosedale, Queens N.Y. I started the journey at age 16 and completed my private pilot license at age 18, and my commercial instrument rating at 20. 

• I am United Youth Aviators 1st licensed pilot. 

I was on a trip with my HS to Albany when at the time Assembly Member Tremaine Wright gave me the info about United Youth Aviators. I always wanted to learn to fly as a kid, I love to travel and I find the technology of airplanes fascinating. I am acquiring the hours needed to become a Certified Flight Instructor in the very near future. I plan to help other youth in the UYA program and also become a Captain of an airline.
