Being raised in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, NY to a military mom was no easy task; his mom ensured he had structure and would walk a straight path. Despite growing up in a tough neighborhood, Cletodell associated with friends whom also had a strong parental guidance. He played on his High School basketball team, and then later played Division 1 basketball at Long Island University. He achieved his Associates Degree from SUNY Farmingdale in Computer Science. Furthermore, he attained a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and a Masters Degree in Psychology from Long Island University.
Cletodell was 23 years old after his days of college and basketball, looking to enter the workforce . He is a 17 year veteran of the NYC Police Department, starting his career at age 24. Assigned to the School Unit for 11 years, he enforced discipline, mentored and helped the youth in the community of Bedford - Stuyvesant.
In July 2018, he became the Camp Director for the 81st Precinct Community Council Summer Camp coordinating over 100 kids and more than 20 SYEP counselors; it was a great experience.
As a child, Cletodell always wanted to fly, however, there were no camps like this available in his area. As an adult, he decided to pursue his dream of flying by earning his Airmans Certificate (Private Pilot License) and recently earned his Federal Aviation Administration Certified Flight Instrument Instructor License ( CFII). We will make United Youth Aviators a tremendous opportunity that will be afforded to the youth.
